[...more] ... lower Attractor at 7650. The S&P Futures and the QQQs (Figures 2 & 3) look like they might be nearing their lower Attractors, however. If they hit the Attractors and bounce, that will be a strong positive, which could possibly pull up the
Dow with it. Or, maybe the stalwart Dow 30 will continue on down to the lower Attractor without the S&P and the QQQs, causing a positive divergence. Average True Range is beginning to widen on the daily charts, and I expect it will continue to do so as the bounce forms, or the bottom drops out. Either way I am expecting bigger moves in the near future.
The S&P futures contract has a nice Attractor at 815 and the QQQs at 23.35. The RSI is low enough now for a bounce to occur, giving another piece of evidence to the bouncing theory. Standing in the way of upward movement is the completion of the moves down to the Attractors and the fact that RSI has had lower and lower tops since last November. Yet, the bottoming of the RSI has been relatively high, turning at 38 and going back upward again. To summarize, I think the market will continue on down just a bit more, until hitting the Attractors, and then take a bounce up from there for a few days. I expect still that we are forming a bottom, which will continue to be very choppy for months to come. As always, stay nimble, humble and take small losses and big wins. |

JDSU Example Chart: In this chart you can clearly see what I am observing when I prepare my "Weekend Stock Picks." The Red Dot above January 6, 2003 shows the first
day on which I could have entered this stock after my weekend alerts. The horizontal line shows the price I listed as "Breakout." The Breakout is a trigger price for me. If the stock CLOSES above the horizontal trigger line, I buy the next morning on the open, if its price is still above the trigger line.
