Consulting & Mentoring

Sunny Harris has been trading since 1981. She is a  Real Trader,  Computer Programmer and Mathematician, having used TradeStation™ since the early SystemWriter™ and SuperCharts days in the mid 1980s. Consulting/Mentoring can take the form of Sunny writing code to your specifications or designing & coding based on your ideas. Mentoring is Sunny spending one-on-one tiime with you, teaching you to trade, read charts and program for yourself. Mentoring is learning from Sunny's mistakes rather than having to learn on your own.

Sunny's Qualifications

Sunny Harris, BA, MS, PhD  Mathematics, has been trading since 1981. She has used paper charts, TradeStation and EasyLanguage and its predecessors (SystemWriter+ and SuperCharts) since 1986. She has also used MultiCharts, NinjaTrader, MetaStock, Genesis Navigator, TC2000, VantagePoint and more.

She published a monthly magazine for 8 years, called Traders Catalog & Resource Guide (TC&RG™) beginning in 1993, and was rated #1 trader in the under $10 million category by Stark Research two years running, achieving a 365% profit in 1993 and 178% in 1994  far out strapping the runners-up . in real-time futures trading for her own account. Sunny continues to trade real-time along with consulting and programming for clients and students.

After 41+ years of working with computerized trading, TradeStation and EZL (EasyLanguage), she has become one of the very best at coding quickly and efficiently.  She saves you money, because she often knows what works even before programming it.

Sunny has also used MultiCharts, MetaStock, Genesis Navigator, VantagePoint, NinjaTrader, TC2000 and Build Alpha in her trading.

You get more than you were expecting. Uniquely, she is a real trader, not just an academic. She does so much more than code: she also knows whether the code will work.

Ms. Harris is an excellent teacher, and can teach you in 2 days to become a proficient EZL programmer yourself. In fact, within 2 hours she'll have you speaking basic EZL constructs. And, she makes it fun.

Sunny has written 5 books on trading and analyzing the stock markets. They are readily available at Amazon.com or your local library. In order of publication, they are Trading 101--How to Trade Like a Pro, Trading 102--Getting Down to Business, Electronic Day Trading 101, Getting Started in Trading, and TradeStation Made Easy!  And now she is writing The Definitive Guide to TradeStation's EasyLanguage & OOEL with Samuel K. Tennis.

If you can only buy one, get Trading 102.... It it the most pithy and filled with the details you need to start your own trading business. If you can afford 2 books, also get Getting Started... which is a re-write of Trading 101... and is prerequisite to Trading 102 .... Sunny finished the 5th book, TradeStation Made Easy! in 2011which is the answer to the difficult manuals that are out there now.

And, now, Sunny is working on the ground-breaking Solving the Puzzle, which is (hopefully) available in the Fall of 2022.  In this two-volume book, which is a Virtual Learning experience, Harris is writing 21 chapters to lead you through all the steps of learning to trade. It also leads you through the A to Z steps and tells you which books to read. Click Here to read a sample.

After you read each chapter, you will spend time with Sunny on Zoom or on the phone, connecting to your computer with TeamViewer (as required) so she can show you what to do. It's an amazing experience.

How Sunny Can Help You

Sunny can assist you in your trading endeavors in several important ways: Mentoring, listening to your ideas, evaluating them and making suggestions, helping you learn TradeStation, MetaStock, Genesis Navigator, MultiCharts, BestChoice, or a myriad of other programs quicker than you would on your own.

Sunny's mentoring also brings in her 40+ years of trading experience to the picture, with her in-depth knowledge of what works and what doesn't. Over the years of her own personal trading, she's read over 300 books on trading and tried the concepts in them all.

She has helped more than 10,000 traders with designing their own systems, from individuals with $5,000 to trade to highly placed institutional traders managing billions of dollars.

Sunny has seen it all! Wouldn't you rather know right up front if your idea holds promise, or is one she's already seen fail?

Do you REALLY want to learn to trade? Or are you just looking for a fast buck?

Consulting is available, either in person or over the phone, or over the internet with Zoom, TeamViewer, GoToMeeting, Google Hangouts etc.

If you live in Southern California, you might want to take the short drive to Oceanside and meet in person. Finger pointing works best in person. We can draw pictures on charts and Sunny can program your ideas right in front of you, and at the same time teaching you what she's doing.

It's immensely valuable this way. Many people who don't live in So. Cal. take a couple of days off and fly to Oceanside to meet with Sunny in person. It's well worth the trip.

One of Sunny's clients comes from South America to spend the day with Sunny.

Combining phone and internet, we can almost work in person using the program. It hooks our computers together (long-distance) and we look at the computer while talking on the phone about what I'm doing. It makes it very easy to exchange ideas and program without making the trip.

Sunny has worked with more than a thousand people this way, and they have generally become professional traders, still trading the markets.

Sunny's consulting can take several forms:

    1. Risk vs Reward
      1. Liquidity Risk
The risk of not being able to get out of the investment conveniently at a reasonable price. This can occur for a number of reasons. If the market is volatile, you may be forced to sell at a significant loss if you must sell immediately. Another cause can be an inactive market. For instance, it may be difficult to sell a house simply because there are no buyers.
      2. Market Risk
The risk that the general market or economic environment will cause the investment to lose value regardless of the particular security. A stock may drop in value simply because the overall stock market has fallen; this is referred to as stock market risk. A bond doesn’t face stock market risk, but it may drop in value due to a rise in interest rates; this is referred to as interest rate risk.
      3. Inflation Risk
The uncertainty over future inflation rates, which results in uncertainty over the future real (after-inflation) value of your investment. An investment that barely keeps pace with inflation will not be able to grow in real terms, leaving you with only as much purchasing power in the future as you have today.
      4. Business & Industry Risk
The uncertainty of an investment’s ability to pay investors income, principal, and any other returns due to a significant fall-off in business (either firm-related or industry-wide) or bankruptcy. A stock, for instance, may fall in value because a firm’s earnings have unexpectedly dropped due to bad management calls or an industry-wide slowdown.
